(Musings of a Stone Designer)

Have you ever wished you could see a finished renovation project before committing to design decisions?

We have many such customers.  They say they have trouble deciding on design details because they have difficulty visualizing various ideas and specific combinations. Frequently, as a way to help these customers get an idea of how something will look, I do some quick 3D sketches on the computer. Our clients really appreciate this type of visual aid—they claim that it really helps.

Each drawing a little different from the next...kind of like that game, "can you find what's different..."

I thought it would be interesting to take some “after” photos from the same perspective as some of my “before” computer drawings. I wondered how similar to the original drawings that the actual kitchens would look. This way, I could see just how helpful the drawings really had been.

The opportunity presented itself not long ago, after we completed a kitchen with a very unique design that had required quite a few computer drawings. Below are three photos of the finished kitchen taken from the same angle as the three computer drawings that were created before the project began.

Are the drawings helpful?
You be the judge.

For us, 2011 will go down as a year of many very happy customers!

Here, we would like to share our year in review via notes sent to us (or sent to others and copied to us) from some of the owners of our completed projects.

We LOVE THE STONE. Can't say enough about quality and professionalism. You are more than welcome to use us as a reference.

I did use the Stone Studio for my kitchen countertop.  (I found them on the Internet.)  It turned out beautiful.  A year or so ago, I watched this Martha Stewart episode on soapstone countertops and knew then I had to have one.  I researched every company in and around Indianapolis.  Only two could answer my questions (and confirm what I had already found out) about soapstone.  And, Marlene was so nice over the phone.  I had lots of questions and she was very patient and friendly.

We built our new house.  Once the cabinets were installed, Pete came out and made a template for our countertop.  He then went back to his shop to fabricate it.  Within a week it was finished and Pete and an assistant installed it.  It was beautiful, perfect, and had the smoothest finish.

With new construction, you have lots of contractors in and out.  Some were clean and some left a mess for us to clean up.  Not the Stone Studio.  They did a beautiful job installing and even oiled the countertop for us before they left.  Very little, if any, dust remained.

We loved our countertop so much that we asked The Stone Studio to make fireplace hearths for us, too.
I can't say enough good things about The Stone Studio.  I definitely got a quality product that was beautifully crafted.  But, I also was able to do business with very nice people.  I recommend them to everyone I know.

Our counters are wonderful.  Thanks again for all you did.

I think about you and Pete often (every time I enter my beautiful kitchen)!

We are just finishing a total rehab on our kitchen.  Pete and Marlene have been great to work with and Pete and his assistant did a beautiful job on the installation.  We have had some issues along the way during this kitchen project but have had no problems with Stone Studio.  Stone Studio was also
very accommodating to our slipping the scheduled install date due to a late sink cabinet arrival.

We could not be happier with our decision to go with Stone Studio. The Wukusick's were professional, thoughtful, patient and the very last detail. Loved visiting the studio and shopping for the perfect slab of stone. Their insight/expertise was extremely helpful when we were having trouble with color/style/ etc. No one knows (or loves) stone like Pete and Marlene. We consider our countertops and backsplashes pieces of art. Craftsmanship? Impeccable.

We installed both soapstone and granite in our kitchen.  We are very satisfied with the products we received and the quality and timeliness of our counter top installation.   I can without hesitation offer my recommendation of The Stone Studio.  I would not say that about everyone that worked on our kitchen project but Pete and Marlene were great to work with and were flexible with our floating time line.

I wanted to thank you both (and the helper) for such a professional job and the cleaner and oil.  What a nice touch and so greatly appreciated!
We will recommend you to anyone who comes to view our home.
Just wanted to tell both of you thanks!! We love the kitchen! My husband thought it looked spectacular, and thought highly of the craftsmanship. I smile every time I walk into the room!  I will definitely be back in touch next year for some bathroom re-dos. Please do not hesitate to use me for a reference. Thanks again.

I just wanted to let you know we both love the vanity top.  We installed it tonight and it looks great.  You were so helpful throughout the process and I really appreciate it.   Good luck with your other projects.

Pete & Marlene,  The soap stone and granite are beautiful. Choices, design, fabrication and installation impeccable.  Thank you!

Hi Marlene and Pete,
We were all at the house last night and the countertops look great! Wow! Can't wait to get started cooking there.  Thanks for figuring out a solution for the trim. I found some pieces that the electrician left but there were only a few leftovers that would not really work on that area. Thanks again,

Marlene, Pete
We took some photos of the kitchen today – Thought you might want to see them. I posted photos on the Garden Web kitchen forum.
There are some interesting comments on our kitchen. We are really enjoying our soapstone.

You guys have been fantastic to work with!   Thank you!!!
